Terms of Use
Effective September 8, 2026
The short version
- Buying Patrimony gets you a personal license to use the app on your own devices — not ownership of the app itself.
- It's a one-time purchase. No subscription, no recurring charge, no in-app purchases.
- Patrimony is a record-keeping tool, not a financial advisor — the forecast is a projection from your own past entries, not investment advice, and the accuracy of your net worth depends entirely on the numbers you type in.
- Purchases and refunds go through Apple's App Store or Google Play, under their terms, not ours directly.
- The app is provided as-is, with no warranty that it's error-free or uninterrupted.
Who we are, and what these terms cover
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are between you and Matriese, Gaversesteenweg 436, 9820 Merelbeke-Melle, Belgium ("Patrimony," "we," "us"), and govern your use of the Patrimony app on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, or Linux, and of trackpatrimony.com. By downloading, installing, or using Patrimony, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
License
Subject to these Terms and payment of the applicable purchase price, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Patrimony on devices you own or control, for your own personal use. This license doesn't give you any ownership of the app, its source code, its design, or the Patrimony name and branding — all of which remain ours. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app except where applicable law gives you a right we can't override.
Purchases, pricing, and refunds
Patrimony is sold as a one-time purchase through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We don't process payments directly, don't see your payment details, and don't run a subscription of any kind. Refunds, billing disputes, and payment issues are handled by Apple or Google under their own terms and refund policies — see Apple's refund policy or Google Play's refund policy. Unlocking the app on additional devices you own is included in the original purchase and doesn't require paying again.
Your data and your responsibility for it
Patrimony stores your account and balance data on your device, and, if you enable it, syncs it through your own iCloud or Google account — see our Privacy Policy for the full detail. Because we never receive your data, we have no ability to back it up, recover it, or restore it if you lose access to your device or your iCloud/Google account. Keeping sync enabled, or exporting your data periodically, is your responsibility.
You're responsible for the accuracy of every balance you enter. Patrimony carries your numbers forward and charts them, but it has no way to verify they're correct.
Not financial advice
Patrimony is a personal record-keeping and visualization tool. Nothing in the app — including the one-year forecast, the 3-year growth rate, or any chart or total — is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Forecasts are simple projections built from your own past entries; they are not predictions from a market model and carry no guarantee of accuracy. Decisions you make based on Patrimony's numbers are your own responsibility. If you need financial advice, talk to a licensed professional.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Patrimony for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that violates the rights of others.
- Attempt to circumvent the app's license or purchase mechanism.
- Interfere with, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where a law we can't override gives you that right.
- Use the Patrimony name, logo, or branding in a way that implies endorsement or affiliation without our written permission.
Third-party services
Optional sync relies on Apple iCloud or Google Drive, both of which are governed by their own terms of service, entirely outside our control. We're not responsible for the availability, performance, or policies of those services.
Disclaimer of warranties
Patrimony is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any calculation, chart, or forecast will be accurate. Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Matriese will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or financial decisions made in reliance on the app, arising out of your use of Patrimony — even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to Patrimony will not exceed the amount you paid for the app.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms. You can stop using Patrimony, and delete it, at any time. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms, we'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, note it prominently on this page or in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Patrimony after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Belgium, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you're a consumer resident in the EU or elsewhere, mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country of residence may also apply and take precedence over any conflicting provision here.
